Library and Global Elements

The Tirenoa Library stores content you want to use again: page templates, containers, columns, elements, post cards and mega menus. A saved item is normally a copy. Each time you insert it, the page gets its own independent version.

A global element is different. It is one item that many pages share. When you change it in one place, it changes everywhere. Use it for content that must stay identical across the site, such as a call-to-action row, opening hours or a contact block.

Saved Item or Global Item

Saved item Global item
What a page gets Its own copy A link to the one shared item
Editing it on a page Changes that page only Changes every page that uses it
Deleting it from the Library Pages keep their copies It is removed from every page
Marked with No icon A globe icon

Containers, columns and elements can be global. Page templates, post cards and mega menus cannot.

Save Something as Global While You Build

  1. In the Builder, click the save icon of the container, column or element you want to reuse.
  2. Enter a name. Names must be unique; the Builder asks for a different one if the name is already taken.
  3. Tick Save As Global and save.
  4. The item on the page now shows the globe icon, and the item appears in the Library.

Leave Save As Global unticked to store a normal, independent copy instead.

Create a Global Item From the Library Screen

  1. Go to Tirenoa › Library.
  2. Under Select Library Element Type choose Container, Column or Element.
  3. Enter a name and tick Global element. The checkbox is hidden for Template, Post Card and Mega Menu.
  4. Click Create Library Element. The new item opens in the Builder, where you add its content.

Insert a Library Item on a Page

Library items are inserted from the same windows you use to add new content, not from the Library window itself.

  • Containers: add a container and switch to the Library Containers tab.
  • Columns: add columns and switch to the Library Columns tab. A column always goes inside a container.
  • Elements: add an element and switch to the Library Elements tab. An element always goes inside a column.

Items with the globe icon are inserted as global items. All others are inserted as copies.

Who Can Work With Global Items

Creating and changing global items needs more rights than normal library items. By default editors and administrators can do it; authors and contributors can use the Library but cannot save or change global items. Tiaro can adjust these rights per user role for your site.
