Layer Slider Element

The Layer Slider element puts a slider that you built in the LayerSlider plugin into a column of your page. The slider itself, with its slides, layers and animations, is created and edited in LayerSlider. The element only decides where on the page it appears.

Use it when a page needs an animated slider with several layers per slide. For a simple image or video slider, the Builder’s own slider elements need no extra plugin.

When the Element Is Available

The element is part of the Builder only while the LayerSlider plugin is installed and active. When LayerSlider is not active, Layer Slider is missing from the element list, and a Layer Slider element that is already on a page no longer shows its slider.

Note: If you deactivate LayerSlider, pages that use this element keep the element but lose the slider. Activate the plugin again and the sliders come back without further work.

Add a Slider to a Page

  1. Create the slider in LayerSlider and save it there.
  2. Open the page in the Builder and add the Layer Slider element to a column.
  3. Choose your slider under Select Slider. Each entry shows the slider’s name and its number, for example “Home (#3)”.
  4. Save the page.

In the Builder you see the name of the chosen slider instead of the moving slider. Open the page as a visitor to see the result.

Options

Option What it does
Select Slider Lists the sliders that exist in LayerSlider. Sliders that are hidden or in LayerSlider’s trash are not listed. The first entry, “Select a slider”, means no slider is chosen.

Size, timing, navigation and everything inside the slides are settings of the slider in LayerSlider, not of this element. A change you save in LayerSlider shows on every page that uses the slider.

Tips

  • For a slider that should span the whole browser width, place the element in a container whose content is set to full width, and choose the matching layout for the slider in LayerSlider.
  • A new slider does not appear in Select Slider while the element’s options are open. Close the options, reload the Builder and open them again.
  • The element itself loads nothing from other servers. What the slider loads, for example fonts or videos from an outside service, depends on how the slider was built in LayerSlider. Check that in the plugin if privacy matters for your site.
