Tiaro Shop

Tiaro Shop is the shop plugin of the Tirenoa ecosystem. It is made for businesses that confirm every order themselves: a visitor fills a cart and sends it, your staff check it, add missing prices and shipping, and send the confirmation. There is no online payment and no customer account.

An item with a price can be ordered. An item without one is shown as “Price on request”, and a cart that holds such an item is sent as a request for a quote instead of an order. The plugin needs the Tirenoa theme with Tirenoa Builder, because the last step of the cart is a form you build with Tirenoa Forms.

The Shop menu

After activation the administration has a Shop menu with these entries:

Entry What it is for
Items The list of shop items, with picture, item number, price and stock. The search also finds an item by its number.
Add Item A new item: name, description, short description, pictures and the Item data box.
Categories / Brands The two groupings every shop has. Categories can be nested.
Orders Every cart that was sent, as an order or a request, with its status.
Settings Five tabs: General, Catalogue, Cart and orders, Confirmation e-mail and How to set up.

Further groupings, for example “Fits model” or “Condition”, are added under Settings › Catalogue › Further groupings. Each one then appears in the Shop menu, on the item screen and as a filter for visitors.

Items

The Item data box holds what a shop needs beyond the texts:

Field What it does
Item number (SKU) Shown on the item page, in the cart and in the e-mails.
Price (net) Leave empty for “price on request”. Prices are net; the shop does not calculate tax.
Former price Shown struck through next to the price when it is higher than the price.
Price note For example “per set of 5”. Empty: the note from the shop settings is shown.
Stock Tick Count the stock of this item and enter the units. At 0 the item shows “Sold” and cannot be added to the cart. Without the tick the item is always available.
Pictures The featured image comes first, these follow. Drag to sort.

Extra tabs on the item page, such as “Technical data”, are defined once under Settings › Catalogue › Tabs on the item page. Every item then gets an editor per tab in the More tabs box, and a tab only appears when it has content.

Showing items on a page

Item pages and the pages of categories and brands exist by themselves. To list items anywhere else, put a shortcode on a page with the Text or Shortcode element. The tab How to set up lists every attribute.

Shortcode What it shows
[tiaro_shop_items] A grid of items. Attributes narrow it (category, brand, a further grouping, priced, hide_sold), set what visitors may filter by (filters), the order (orderby) and the size (per_page, columns).

Setting up the cart

  1. Build a form under Tirenoa › Forms with the fields you need, for example company, name, e-mail, phone, message and consent. Its submission type must be AJAX, and it needs an e-mail field.
  2. Give that form its notifications: one to the customer and one to your team. These are the automatic replies right after a cart is sent. In subject and text you can use [tiaro_shop_cart], [tiaro_shop_number], [tiaro_shop_type_label] and [tiaro_shop_total].
  3. Create a page with [tiaro_shop_cart] and [tiaro_shop_checkout].
  4. Under Shop › Settings › Cart and orders choose that page as Cart page and the form as Form used as the submit step.

The same tab sets the numbering of orders (a prefix followed by a counter, for example TS-00001) and when counted stock goes down: when staff confirm the order, as soon as the customer sends the cart, or never.

Note: The cart is kept in the visitor’s browser only. The server stores no cart and sets no cookie, so every page of the shop can be cached. When a cart is sent, the server prices it again from the items; prices from the browser are never used.

Orders and the confirmation

Every cart that is sent appears under Shop › Orders as an Order (every item had a price) or a Request (at least one had none). The statuses are New, Confirmed, Completed and Cancelled.

  1. Open the order. The Items box shows each line with quantity and unit price; both can be changed.
  2. On a request, enter a price for every item that has none. Add Shipping (net) and, if you like, a Message to the customer.
  3. Use Preview the confirmation to see the e-mail exactly as it will be sent.
  4. Choose Save and send confirmation. A new order becomes Confirmed.

Subject, text and payment instructions of that e-mail are under Settings › Confirmation e-mail, separately for orders and requests. The e-mail uses the Email Design of the theme and leaves through its mail settings. Setting an order to Cancelled puts counted stock back.

Languages

With Tiaro Multilingual an item exists once. Price, item number, stock and pictures apply to every language, and the box Other languages on the item gives it a name, an address and texts per language; an empty field shows the original. Every setting a visitor or customer reads has one field per language, and the confirmation is written in the language the cart was sent in.

What this version does not do

  • Variants of an item: one item has one number and one price.
  • Customer accounts, online payment, tax calculation and shipping rules. Shipping is an amount your staff enter per order.
  • Import and export of items as a file.

Note: Privacy: the shop contacts no outside service. Its only request goes to your own site, to load names and prices for the cart. E-mail leaves through the mail settings of the theme.
