Next Page Element

Next Page is a separator that you place between two containers. Everything above it becomes part one of the page, everything below it part two. Visitors move between the parts with numbered page links that appear automatically.

Use it for very long articles, step-by-step instructions or galleries that are easier to read in portions. It is part of the Builder itself and needs no extra plugin.

Where to Find It

Next Page is not in the normal element list, because it does not go into a column. It sits between containers. You find it in the window that opens when you add a container, on the Special tab, under Special Items.

When you edit a form, that tab offers the form step instead. Next Page is available for pages, posts and other content.

Split a Page

  1. Open the page in the Builder.
  2. Go to the container after which the first part should end, and add a new container below it.
  3. In the window that opens, switch to the Special tab and click Next Page.
  4. The Builder inserts a bar labeled Next Page Separator. Drag it by its handle if it should sit between other containers.
  5. Repeat this for every further break, then save the page.

In the live editor the separator shows the page numbers. Click a number to work on that part of the page. To remove a break, use the trash icon on the separator; the content on both sides stays.

Options

Option What it does
(none) The separator has no settings. Its position between the containers is all that counts.

The look of the numbered page links comes from the site’s general pagination styling, so it matches the pagination elsewhere on your site.

What Visitors See

  • Only one part is shown at a time, with the page links below the content.
  • Each part has its own address: the address of the page followed by the number of the part.
  • The header, footer, page title and sidebars are the same on every part.

Tips

  • Put a separator only between containers of the main content. Content that should appear on every part, such as a call to action, has to be repeated in each part or moved to a layout section.
  • Do not split short pages. Each part is loaded on its own, and search engines see the parts as separate addresses.
